Arrabona Racing Team

Image title

We are the brand new Arrabona Racing Team from Győr where "the future starts"- that's what they say and what we also believe. All of us study in the Széchenyi István University in Győr. Our team is a very vivid one, mechanical, vehicle and electric engineers and also IT experts and economistsare working together to succeed.

The "ART" was founded on 14th January 2014. We decided to build a one-seat racing car during the summer, which we would like to introduce at the Formula Student Hungary as the first racing team from Győr at the end of August. We hope that you'll see our creativity and hard work!

BME Formula Racing Team

Image title

BME Formula Racing Team was founded in 2007 as the first Hungarian Formula Student team. During its seven years of existence the team has built 5 combustion and 4 electric cars. For the last couple of years we have been competing with electric cars only, and achieved some outstanding results at last year's FSH. This year we're competing with a further-developed and improved car, which has a lot of potential. The team is hungrier than ever for good results at our home race.

Bodensee Racing Team

Image title

Our team consists out of 60 team members from over 10 different degree courses. We all live and work together at the beautiful Lake of Constance. The team was founded in 2005 and from the beginning the burning fish was our trademark. We think it perfectly symbolizes our love to combustion cars and of course the connection to our location next to the lake.
With new team-leaders in almost every section and high expectations of building the ninth racecar we had a special challenge for this season. Nevertheless the Iltis14 shows that the challenge got mastered. Presenting a car which has already absolved its maiden trip at the Rollout made us infinitely proud. We are looking forward to a great racing season 2015 and our sixth participation at the Formula Student Hungary.

FaSTTUBe was founded in 2005 and built their first formula student racing car in the year 2006. Ever since every year a new formula student racing car in category combustion is designed and manufactured by the students of the TU Berlin in their own maintenance work. Since 2012 FaSTTUBe is also joining competitions all over europe. Good engineering design developed by students of the TU Berlin was demonstrated with their last formula student car in Hungary, Italy, Austria and Germany in 2014. The results were the Measurement and Control Award in Hungary, the best fuelefficiency ranking in Austria, and the cost/performance award in Italy.

Motivated by success the FaSTTUBe Team of 2015 developed the best racing car "made in Berlin" for their 10th anniversary. To do so the team devided their competences in five modules: suspension, chassis, engine-powertrain, electronics and sponsoring. The strongest racing car of FaSTTUBes history is the result of that. But its not only about horsepower in formula student racing, every discipline is quite different and requires different setups. To gain as much competitions points as possible we developed discipline specific setups and are waiting to show them in your Formula Student Hungary Event. Oouuu Yeah!

HTW MotorsportImage title

The HTW Motorsport team was founded 9 years ago in 2005 by four ambitious students at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin. By this time our team consists of around 30 highly dedicated students from several fields of study. Thus, in addition to the technicians from automotive engineering and mechanical engineering, we also have students from economic sciences, informatics and industrial design who support us with their expertise in controlling, marketing, project management, organization and coordination. The team is divided into a technical and a business department with different subdivisions. It is a three level system with the department leader as head of the team, followed by the subdivision leaders and the members. The communication between the departments is realized by leadership and subdivision meetings. The team gets together in weekly meetings plus additional knowledge transfer workshops. A separate concept team with experienced members realizes big concept changes for the future and analyzes previous vehicles to implement this knowledge to the new design process.

Our main goals beside the construction and manufacturing of our new racecar every year is to participate at the Formula Student Germany in Hockenheim, which we have managed for 4 years in a row. Since 2012, the Formula Student Hungary in Györ has become our second home. So we are delighted that we can attend both events again in 2014.

Since the establishment, we were able to celebrate several successes which we are really proud of. At the FSG event in 2011 we won the Sportsmanship Award for giving another team our only spare engine before the beginning of the dynamic events. In addition we won the Media Award a year later for the best representation video of the FSG event. Our biggest achievement so far happened last year at the FSH competition with winning the first place in the Business Plan presentations. These awards confirmed our hard work every year and always inspire us literally for the upcoming events. And now it’s about time to get hold of the fiercely contested awards of the dynamic events!

Joanneum Racing Graz

Image title

The Austrian team known as “The Weasels” has its nest at the University of Applied Sciences JOANNEUM in Graz, Austria. They were founded in 2003 and are building race cars with charged engines like their mascot, fast and agile since 2004.

The team changes all of its members every year, so the cars are always built by a new group of Automotive Engineering students. The experience of the past years isn’t lost though, as the introduction of new members to the project begins earlier and the connection to the alumni remains close. Combining fresh ideas with many years of experience guarantees the evolution of the cars, as it can also be seen on this season’s car, the jr15.

It has a hybrid chassis with a CFRP monocoque and a tubular rear spaceframe holding the engine. It is already the third year of further development of the self-made, turbocharged 2-cylinder engine with direct injection and electro-pneumatic shift actuation. The suspension was exclusively developed for racing with Continental tires that are fitted on hand-laminated three-spoke 13 inch CFRP rims. A CFD-simulated aerodynamic package contributes to the perfect handling and guarantees not only a mind-blowing appearance but also amazing cornering speeds.

Like the high-end parts of the car are functioning together with perfection, so is the team of joanneum racing graz working as one to reach their goals and prove their right to be one of the best FS teams in the world.

ProjectoFSTNovabase

Image titleWe are team Projecto FST Novabase from Lisbon, Portugal.

We are 35 engineering students (Mechanical, Electronic, Informatics and Aerospace) from Instituto Superior Técnico, a 104 year old University. The team began in 2001 and since then we have built 6 racing cars, the last 3 using electric powertrain.

In 2015 we built the FST 06e, the car we are bringing to FSH. It is an improved version of the FST 05e, which we brought to Hungary in 2013, built with a very different mindset. Our goal was to produce a race car
which is reliable and robust, a “plug and play” powerhouse which can be a canvas for future teams to build upon. It features 2 AC motors, our own self-designed battery management system, a full prepreg carbon fibre monocoque, fully independent suspension, 10” carbon fiber rims and a full aerodynamic package with front and rear wings as well as an undertray.

We are happy to count on our sponsors’ help, providing materials and services free of charge and counseling us whenever possible. We are also very grateful for our families’ patience, most of them having barely seen us over the last months.

We are coming to Hungary with a great desire to show our tireless work of the last 2 years and to learn more from our fellow students. We invite everyone to come by our pit box to see what we’ve done and we offer our full attention to any team who needs any help at any point!

Happy racing!

Our project works as a small business where students are trained in leadership skills, engineering and project management.

Uni Maribor GPE 2015

Image titleTeam history

Formula Student team UNI MB GPE is a project of the University of Maribor. As other Formula Student projects around the globe, it offers students a platform to test their theoretical engineering knowledge in practice. The project kicked off in 2011, which means that we are a team with a relatively short legacy, but have made large strides in order to be competative compared to other teams. Our racing cars went from 242kg, 60kW of power and a 3,5s acceleration 0-100km/h in 2011 to almost 80kg less in 2014; that is 164,5kg, 40kW and 3,5s from 0 to 100km/h.  Last year we competed in two competitions - FSUK - Silverstone and FS Germany - Hockenheimring. In Silverstone, we came in 17th in acceleration, 10th in Autocross and 13th in Skidpad. In Germany, we finished 27th in acceleration, 25th in Skidpad and 42. in the overall standings. This year, we will also compete in two formula student competitions. One is in the Czech Republic and the other in Hungary. This year's team features a lot of newcomers. The 2015 race car was thus constructed and built by around 25 members, old and new.

This year’s highlights

In the 2015 racing season, the team was presided by a new team capitain - Blaž Točaj, who was always available to answer our many questions and concerns with outmost patience. We decided that an additional team member, Andraž Kranjc, would help with the work organisation within the workshop as a sort of workshop leader. The engine team segment was lead by Robert Fridman. This year’s team, as mentioned, consisted of a lot of newcomers so the "veterans" had their work cut out for them. Concerning the specifications of the race car: we chose a small one cylinder tuned KTM

470 SX-F engine, which is 35kg lighter than a four cylinder one with all of its subsystems and runs on

E85 fuel because of slight better performance in combination with higher compression ratio. The intake system features variable plenum volume with electronically controlled valve for changing the volume which was set to give more power output at higher RPM. Exhaust system features an added resonator which gives additional power on useful engine RPM. With the chassis, we focused on a lightweight design with good packaging. The chassis of our car is a single piece monocoque, with carbon/kevlar-epoxy skins, honeycombe core with poplar plywood inserts. The final monocoque model FEA determined a stiffness value of 3200 Nm/°.The main reason for our decision to not build an aluminium spaceframe chassis was easier packaging of suspension and other components since almost everything can be just bolted on the monocoque. Most of the race car is made from either pre-pregged or not pre-pregged carbon fibers. The aerodynamic package is, as it was last year, the largest that this years rules allow, as simulations show that it significantly lowers the laptime and has the largest possible downforce. This year, for the first time in the UNI MB GPE team history, we decided to add an undertray to our aerodynamic package, which in the previous racing season (2014) consisted only of a front and back wing and aerodynamic side pod.  Our taget mass is 158kg. Our tire choice was based on vehicle mass and yaw inertia. We thus came to a point, where we needed to decide between Hoosier, R25B 10" and LCD 10" tires. In the end we decided on the latter, despite a

4% lower grip and lower cornering stiffness, because of our experience with Goodyear D2704 which has a similar Fy-SA curve as the LCD tires and should be easier to drive for an unexperienced driver for a limited time.

WUT Racing Team

Image titleWUT Racing team is existing to give an opportunity to develop impersonal skills of appropriately selected group of students.  We believe that we can achieve more together than in individuals. During the process of projecting and building bolide and participation in competitions of Formula Student we gain knowledge and experience, but above all we meet our dreams.

The Main Center of WUT Racing Team takes place at faculty of Power and Aeronautical Engineering , but our team is a group of 25 people from 5 faculties.  The summary of our work takes place on competitions of  Formula SAE where we can emulate with other teams from all of the world.
