The heat is on today as the engines are ready to roar at the racetrack in Gönyű, home to the Formula Student Hungary event, for the seventh time in a row. As in previous years, the main sponsor of this highly acclaimed motorsport competition for university students is AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft.

Győr, 18 August 2016 – The heat is on today as the engines are ready to roar at the racetrack in Gönyű, home to the Formula Student Hungary event, for the seventh time in a row. As in previous years, the main sponsor of this highly acclaimed motorsport competition for university students is AUDI HUNGARIA MOTOR Kft.

And again this year, slow-go is a no-go in this contest: as 114 teams scrambled to register themselves for one of the 44 slots available (30 for vehicles propelled by internal combustion engines and 14 for electric-powered cars), it took only 2 seconds for the open registrations list to fill up completely. Eventually, student teams from a total of 16 countries will test their knowledge and skills against each other in this year’s competition. Hungary will be represented, among others, by Arrabona Racing Team from Győr and BME Formula Racing Team from Budapest. One of the most important special features of Arrabona Racing Team’s racecar for this year is that the engine of the vehicle has been designed and constructed by another team based in Győr, called SZEngine, whose specialty is creating racing engines.

For several years now, Audi Hungaria has been the main sponsor of the two teams from Győr and the one from Budapest. Since the beginning of the sponsorship, many former students who participated in previous years’ competitions have been welcomed as employees by the Győr-based engine and vehicle manufacturing company. This summer 24 students from the SZEngine team and 22 others from Arrabona Racing Team are taking part in their respective teams’ activities as interns at Audi.
